Life360 Launches its Driver Protect Safety Service in the U.K.

SAN FRANCISCOAug. 31, 2017 /PRNewswire/ — Life360, the world’s leading family location and driving safety app, announced today that its Life360 Driver Protect service is now available to families in the U.K. The Driver Protect service is designed to help families become safer drivers and have peace of mind that their loved ones are safe while on the road. After each drive completed by a family member, a report within the app displays the trip route, the top speed reached, and instances of cell phone use, rapid acceleration, hard braking.

“We’re thrilled to expand the availability of Life360 Driver Protect to our users in the U.K.,” said Alex Haro, co-founder and President of Life360. “Hundreds of thousands of families across the U.K. already use our app to look out for their loved ones and stay connected throughout the day. Our Driver Protect service will give families peace of mind that loved ones are safe while on the road, and help them have conversations about how they may improve their driving habits.”

Features included with a Life360 Driver Protect subscription in the U.K. include:

  • Weekly Driver Report: Family members can review a weekly summary of driving behavior for each member of their Family Circle to see improvements (or worsening) of distracted driving events.
  • Safe Drive Reviews: Family members can view a detailed description about each drive, immediately after each drive is completed. Insights include trip information on a map that shows duration and route, top speed reached, and instances of rapid acceleration, hard braking and cell phone usage.
  • Unlimited Place Alerts: Subscribers can set up unlimited Place Alerts to get notified automatically when loved ones arrive or depart locations like school, work and home.
  • 30 Days of Location History: Thirty days of location history for everyone in the Family Circle is available to easily look back in time at the family’s comings and goings.

An analysis by Life360 earlier this year among its U.S. users found that within two weeks of using the Driver Protect service, 58% of users reduced their cell phone use while on the road.

“We hope families will use the insights available through our Driver Protect service to discuss with their loved ones the importance of driving safely. It’s critical to obey speed limits, put the phone down and stay focused on the road,” said Alex Haro.

The Life360 Driver Protect subscription is available in the U.K. for £3.99 per month or £39.99 per year. A single subscription covers all members of a Family Circle. Driver Protect is an optional upgraded service available within the Life360 app. There is no in-vehicle hardware to install. Life360 Driver Protect utilizes proprietary technology and sensors in the smartphone to deliver an entirely app-based safety service.

Life360’s proprietary location-based technology has enabled families to privately share their locations and communicate with ease within the app since 2008. Families can see loved ones’ locations on a map and can opt to receive automatic alerts when they arrive or depart designated places, like school, work or sports practice. Now, with the addition of driving safety features, Life360 also provides peace of mind that loved ones are traveling safely to each destination throughout the day.
